Software Installation
Install the Device Driver in the Chromeleon Server Configuration. (For more information about the program, refer to Software Installation and Communication The Server Configuration Program.)
Start the Chromeleon server.
Start the Server Configuration program.
Add the pump to the timebase. Select Add Device on the Edit or context menu, and then select Gilson from the Manufacturers list box and 3213/322 Pump from the Devices list box.
The following settings are required:
On the General tab page, enter a name for the pump. The default name is Pump. Select a free COM port for the GSIOC communication. In addition, verify that the Demo Mode is disabled.
On the Pump Configuration (Gilson 321/322 Pumps) tab page, select the pump type and GSIOC address.
On the Head Type and Limits tab page, determine the head type and the allowed flow rate and pressure ranges for the pump.
On the Solvents tab page, determine the number and name(s) of the solvents delivered by the pump.
The Error Levels tab page classifies the severity of any errors that occur. It is generally not necessary to change the default settings.
To control the installed Gilson pump, connect the GIL321_322.pan Control Panel or any especially developed control panel in the Chromeleon client to the corresponding timebase.
Application
Before you connect the pump in Chromeleon, turn on the device by pressing both the ON button on the pump's rear panel (the Power LED starts burning) and the ON button on its front panel (the ON LED starts burning).
Tip:
When Chromeleon connects to the pump, the connect procedure lasts about 30 to 40 seconds. After that, Chromeleon can control the pump. This is logged in the Audit Trail.
When Chromeleon controls the pump, the control panel on the 321 pump is locked. The CM remote control message on the control panel indicates that the pump is connected to Chromeleon
Chromeleon monitors the pressure. That is why pressure limits set on the pump are ignored when Chromeleon controls the instrument. If the pressure is below the lower limit, the pump will stop after some time.
For an overview of special commands and properties for these pumps, refer to Commands and Tips for Third-Party Devices Gilson 321 and 322 Pumps in the User Help section.
Note:
If you use the pumps in both local and remote operation, please note that Chromeleon overwrites the internal method files 18-20.
