(Right/Left/Top/Bottom) Pump / Head Type & Limits
This page indicates the installed pump head and allows you to set limits for the Flow Rate and the system pressure. The available options depend on the installed pump.
For the Dionex pumps, Chromeleon displays the installed pump heads automatically. For the Gilson 321 and 322 pumps, select the installed head pump from the drop-down list. The pump head determines the maximum allowed flow rate and pressure.

Flow
Enter the minimum and maximum flow rates:
Option |
Description |
Range [mL/min]: |
Indicates the allowed flow rate range. The supported range depends on the pump type and pump heads. |
Minimum [mL/min]: |
Enter a new value to change the lower limit for the flow rate range. |
Maximum [mL/min]: |
Enter a new value to change the upper limit for the flow rate range. |
Double flow |
Select this option for pump flow rates outside the normal range. Double flow uses both pump heads together for delivery; thus, the maximum flow rate doubles to 20 ml/min for analytical pumps (HPG-3200A/M/P, HPG-3400A/M) or to 100 mL/min for semipreparative pumps (HPG-3200BX), if the two solvents are mixed in a ratio of 1:1. If the ratio is not 1:1, the maximum flow will be less than double the normal maximum. (For example, a mixing ratio of 2:1 for the analytical pump model results in a maximum flow of 10 + 10/2 = 15 ml/min.) Using this option increases the pressure ripple, resulting in increased baseline noise. |
Pressure
Enter the minimum and maximum pressure limits:
Option |
Description |
Range: |
Indicates the allowed pressure range. |
Unit: |
Select the pressure unit (MPa, bar, or psi). Tip: For LPG-3x00 pumps, the selected unit is automatically sent to the pump upon each connect. |
Minimum: |
Enter a new value to change the lower pressure limit. |
Maximum: |
Enter a new value to change the upper pressure limit. |
