Option

Description

Device Name:

Indicates the name under which the instrument is identified in the installation environment (also, see Naming Devices...). To control the instrument via the existing Control Panels, accept the default. If you do not accept the default, you have to edit the PGM File(s) and re-link the corresponding controls of the control panel. (Also, refer to How to: Controlling Devices from the Control Panel  Linking a Control to a Device in the User Help section.)

Demo Mode:

Select the check box to enable the Demo Mode. In Demo Mode, Chromeleon simulates the functions of the instrument. In this case, Chromeleon reads and displays data from a demo file.

Serial Communication:

Select the serial interface to which the device is currently connected (Port).

The current interface parameters (such as baud rate, data bits, parity, stop bits, and handshake) are displayed.

For some instruments, such as the  Gilson instruments, it may be necessary to assign additional addresses. In this case, another address field is available; for example, GSIOC Address for the GSIOC bus.

 Note:

Connect Device and Disconnect Device buttons are available for some instruments to connect or disconnect Chromeleon and the instrument.
