Box:
Head Type & Limits/Flow and press. limits
Select the installed pump head and set the limits for the Flow Rate and the system pressure. The available options depend on the installed pump.
Click the arrow and select the head type from the list. The pump head determines the maximum allowed flow rate and pressure. For the Dionex P580 pump, also specify whether the chemically inert bio version is used.
Pump Head Type |
Description |
|
|
Micro |
Select this option if the P580 pump is fitted with micro pump heads for low flow rates. |
|
|
(Semi-)Preparative |
Select this option if the pump is fitted with semipreparative pump heads. |
Analytical |
By default, the pump is fitted with analytical pump heads. |
|
|
High
Pressure Gradient |
Select this option if your pump is an HPG pump. If this box is checked, you can select the Double flow option for the P580 HPG pump. |
Dionex GP40/GP50/IC20:

Dionex ICS-1000/1500/2000 and ICS-1100/1600/2100:
Pump Head Type |
Description |
|
|
Standard |
The pump is fitted with standard pump heads. No options are available. |
Kontron 420 Pump: Select the installed head type: 2, 10, or 20 ml/min.
Merck Hitachi L6200/L6210 and L6250 Pumps: Select the installed head type: L6200 or L6210.
Jasco 980 Pump: Select Standard as the head type.
TSP P2000 and P4000 Pumps: Select the installed head type: Type10, Type30, or Type90.
Tip:
For the Gilson 321 and 322 Pumps, select the head type on the Pump Configuration (Gilson 321/322 Pumps) tab page.
For the Gilson 333 and 334 Pumps, select the head type on the Pump Configuration (Gilson 333/334 Pumps) tab page.
Flow
Enter the minimum and maximum flow rates:
Option |
Description |
|
|
Units |
Select the unit of measure for pressure (psi, bar, or MPa). |
Range [mL/min]: |
Indicates the allowed flow rate range. The supported range depends on the pump type and the installed pump heads. |
|
|
Minimum [mL/min]: |
Enter a new value for the minimum flow rate. |
|
|
Maximum [mL/min]: |
Enter a new value for the maximum flow rate. |
|
|
Double flow (Dionex P580 pump only): |
Select this option for pump flow rates outside the normal range. Double flow uses both pump heads together for delivery; thus, the maximum flow rate doubles (for analytical pump versions: 20 ml/min) if the two solvents are mixed in a ratio of 1:1. (For example, a mixing ratio of 2:1 for the analytical pump version results in a maximum flow of 10 + 10/2 = 15 ml/min.) Selecting the Double flow option increases the pressure ripple, which then leads to increased baseline noise. The Double flow option is available for HPG pumps only if the High-pressure gradient option is selected. |
Pressure
Enter the minimum and maximum pressure limits:
Option |
Description |
|
|
Range: |
Indicates the allowed pressure range. |
|
|
Minimum: |
Enter a new value for the lower pressure limit. |
|
|
Maximum: |
Enter a new value for the upper pressure limit. |
