What is required?

License:

Timebase Class 1

Connection:

RS-232 cable (Dionex part no. 8914.0150A); for more information, refer to  TSP Cable.

Hardware
Prerequisites:

A free RS-232 port is required for control.

 Tip:

It is not possible to control the P2000 and P4000 pumps via a UCI Universal Chromatography Interface or a USB-to-RS232 adapter. To control the pumps, use a free RS-232 port on the PC. If more RS-232 ports are needed, install an RS-232 interface card. (For example, refer to Installing PC Plug-In Cards  Installing the Serial RS-232 Interface Card (Meilhaus).)

Hardware Installation

Device Connection:

Use an RS-232 cable (Dionex part no. 8914.0150A; see  TSP Cable) to connect the TSP P2000 and P4000 Pumps.

 Tips:

It is not possible to control the pumps via a UCI Universal Chromatography Interface or a USB-to-RS232 adapter.

When you install the pumps in Chromeleon, verify that the Start and Stop inputs are not connected. This will ensure error-free control of the devices.

Device Settings

None.

Restrictions:

No restrictions known.

Software Installation

Install the Device Driver in the Chromeleon Server Configuration. (For more information about the program, refer to Software Installation and Communication  The Server Configuration Program.)

  1. Start the Chromeleon server.

  2. Start the Server Configuration program.

  3. Add the pump to the selected timebase. Select Add Device on the Edit or context menu, and then select Thermo Scientific from the Manufacturers list box and TSP P2000 Pump (or TSP P4000 Pump) from the Devices list box.

  4. The following settings are required:

On the General tab page, select the RS-232 port.

On the Head Types & Limits tab page, select your pump head:

Specify the flow and pressure limits (maximum 414 bar (41.4 MPa = 6003 psi)).

On the Solvents tab page, specify the number and names of the eluents that are delivered by the pump.

The Error Levels tab page classifies the severity of any errors that occur. It is generally not necessary to change the default settings.

  1. To control the pump, connect the TSP_P4000.pan Control Panel in the Chromeleon client to the corresponding timebase.

Application

The User Help section provides information about the commands and properties supported by the pumps; refer to  TSP P2000 and P4000 Pumps
