Hardware Installation
Device Connection: |
A special cable (Thermo Scientific part no. 8914.0148) is required to connect the autosampler to the PC (refer to ThermoQuest/Fisons Cable). Use a 37-pin connecting cable to connect the Fisons GC Autosamplers to the Fisons 8000 Gas Chromatograph. When the injection is completed, the GC autosampler sends the signal to the GC, which in turn sends it to Chromeleon via a relay. The pins 12 and 24 of the GC AUX connector are used. Connect the signal and GND lines of a remote input to these.

In the Server Configuration, specify the remote input that is used by the Fisons AS800 autosampler under Inject Port on the Sampler tab page! |
Device Settings: |
The following communications parameters must be used: 9600 Baud, 8 Data Bits, No Parity, 1 Stop Bit, Rts/Cts handshake. Some Fisons AS800 GC samplers are set to a baud rate (by the manufacturer) that is not suitable for the Chromeleon device Device Drivers. When turning on the autosampler, simultaneously press the Meth and Seq keys to check the baud rate setting. The following information will be displayed: AS800 SET UP: b9600 ACT INJ SMP SYR MAN The value on the top right is the baud rate setting. This information may not be available in previous firmware versions. If this is the case, press the EXIT key to leave the Setup menu. If the baud rate is not set to 9600, move the cursor to the baud rate field using the left arrow key (<). Set the new baud rate, using the up and down arrow keys. Press the Exit key to leave the Setup menu. |
Device Settings |
Only if you want to operate two autosamplers in dual operation mode: On the autosampler display, set Sync to Twin (program page PP14). |
Software Installation
Install the Device Driver in the Chromeleon Server Configuration. (For more information about the program, refer to Software Installation and Communication The Server Configuration Program.)
Start the Chromeleon server.
Start the Server Configuration program.
Add the autosampler to the timebase. Select Add Device on the Edit or context menu, and then select Fisons from the Manufacturers list box and FisonsAS800_Sampler (or ThermoFinnigan/Thermoquest/TSP: AS2000 GC Sampler) from the Devices list box.
The following settings are required:
On the FisonsAS800_Sampler tab page, disable the Demo Mode.
On the Sampler tab page, select a free inject port.
The Error Levels tab page classifies the severity of any errors that occur. It is generally not necessary to change the default settings.
To control the Fisons autosampler connect the FISAS800.pan control panel in the Chromeleon client to the corresponding timebase.
