Also refer to Connecting Devices via RS232.

Use the AS2000/TRACE GC Cable to connect the ThermoQuest AS2000 GC Autosampler to the TRACE 2000 or FOCUS GC.

Device Settings:

The following communications parameters must be used: 9600 Baud, 8 Data Bits, No Parity, 1 Stop Bit, and Rts/Cts handshake.

Some ThermoQuest AS2000 GC autosamplers are set to a baud rate (by the manufacturer) that is not suitable for the Chromeleon Device Drivers.

When you turn on the autosampler, press the Meth and Seq keys simultaneously to check the baud rate setting. The following information will be displayed:

AS2000 SET UP: b9600

ACT INJ SMP SYR MAN

The value given at the top right is the baud rate setting. This information may not be available in previous firmware versions. In this case, press the Exit key to leave the Setup menu.

If the baud rate is not set to 9600, move the cursor to the baud rate field, using the < key (arrow to the left). Set the new baud rate with the up and down arrow keys. Press the Exit key to leave the Setup menu.

Device Settings
(Dual Operation):

Only if you want to operate two autosamplers in dual operation mode:

On the autosampler display, set Sync to Twin (program page PP14).

Software Installation

For details about how to add timebases and device drivers to the Server Configuration, refer to Adding, Configuring or Deleting Devices. When you add a driver to the timebase, the configuration dialog or wizard opens automatically. For information about the settings, click the Help button on a page or press F1.

When the injection is completed, the GC autosampler sends a signal to the GC, which in turn sends a signal to Chromeleon. Specify the remote input (GC_INJECTOR) used by the ThermoQuest AS2000 autosampler in the Server Configuration, under Inject Port on the Sampler tab page.
