Setting up a Datasource

To set up a datasource in Chromeleon, open the Browser and select Datasources… on the File menu. The Datasource Manager dialog box appears, listing all datasources accessible by the Chromeleon Client. (For general information about datasources, refer to Data Management  Datasource.)

 Note:

The default datasource (<PC Name_local>) created during Chromeleon installation is always listed, even if no other datasources can be accessed. For a local station that is not operated on a network, the name used to identify the station in the installation environment is listed instead of the computer name. (Under Windows XP, enter the name under which the station is identified under Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Computer Name > Network ID; in other operating systems, the path may be different.) If no name has been entered, the datasource is named Default_local.

The following actions can be performed from the Browser:

 Creating a New Datasource

 Connecting a Datasource

 Disconnecting a Datasource

 Note:

Chromeleon regards GynkoSoft data and data from other manufacturers as existing databases. To display them in Chromeleon, the corresponding directory must be connected. It is not necessary to set up a new datasource.

These topics guide you through the process, describing which steps have to be performed in Chromeleon and in the operating system.
