Setting up a Datasource
Connecting a Datasource
A client or server can access the data of a datasource only if the client or server PC is connected to the datasource. Therefore, connect to the network datasource on the client or server PC from which you want to save data.
In the Chromeleon client, open the Browser and select Datasources… on the File menu.
The Datasource Manager dialog box appears. Click Connect… to open the Connect to Datasource dialog box.
Select the type of datasource from the list and click OK:
To connect to an Access data source, select Native Chromeleon Datasource.
To connect to an MS SQL server data source, select SQL Server (see Connecting the MS SQL Server Database to Chromeleon).
To connect to an Oracle data source, select Microsoft ODBC for Oracle (see Connecting an Oracle Database to Chromeleon).
Depending on the datasource type, different input is required; for example:
For Access data sources, select the mdb container.
For GynkoSoft datasources, specify the directory of interest.
For MS SQL data sources, follow the instructions in the ODBC driver dialog box.
Tip:
When connecting to the datasource, verify that the Common Datasource (Accessible by Chromeleon Server) check box is selected.
