Installing and Controlling Thermo Scientific Devices
Finnigan/TSP UV2000 Detector: Installation
Device Type: |
Two-channel UV detector |
Device Driver: |
Thermo Scientific: TSP UV2000/UVIS205 Detector The UV2000 detector was tested with firmware version 3.12. |
Hardware Options |
Notes: The 205 UV Detector from Linear Instruments corresponds to the TSP UV2000 Detector. The same device driver is used to control both the 205 UV Detector and the UV2000 Detector. |
What is required?
License: |
Timebase Class 1 |
Connection: |
|
Hardware |
An A/D converter is required for data acquisition. A UCI Universal Chromatography Interface including the appropriate signal cables may be used. Tip: It is not possible to control the UV2000 Detector via a UCI Universal Chromatography Interface or a USB-to-RS232 adapter. To control the detectors, use a free RS-232 port on the PC. If more RS-232 ports are needed, install an RS-232 interface card. (For example, refer to Installing PC Plug-In Cards Installing the Serial RS-232 Interface Card (Meilhaus).) |

Hardware Installation
Device Connection: |
Use an RS-232 cable to connect the TSP UV2000 Detector. Tip: When you install the detector in Chromeleon, verify that the Start and Stop inputs are not connected. This will ensure error-free control of the device. |
Software Installation
Install the Device Driver in the Chromeleon Server Configuration. (For more information about the program, refer to Software Installation and Communication The Server Configuration Program.)
Start the Chromeleon server.
Start the Server Configuration program.
Add the detector to the timebase. Select Add Device on the Edit or context menu, and then select Thermo Scientific from the Manufacturers list box and TSP UV2000/UVIS205 Detector from the Devices list box.
The following settings are required:
On the General tab page, select the RS-232 port. In addition, disable the Demo Mode.
On the Signals tab page, specify the channels for analog signal acquisition.
The Error Levels tab page classifies the severity of any errors that occur. It is generally not necessary to change the default settings.
To control the detector, connect the TSP_UV2000.pan Control Panel in the Chromeleon client to the corresponding timebase.
