Connection:

USB Connection

A free USB port and the following cable is required:

  • USB cable (Dionex part no. 6911.0002) to connect the device to the server PC via the USB port.

Pump Connection

If the detector is operated with an UltiMate 3000 pump, the following additional signal cables are recommended (also refer to section Safety Connection below:

- UltiMate 3000 LPG-3400XRS pump:

  • Synchronization cable (Dionex part no. 6043.0003). The cable is shipped with the detector.

  • Required pump firmware version: 5.7 or higher

Detailed instructions for connecting the detector with an LPG-3400XRS pump are also provided in the Operating Instructions of the pump.

- UltiMate 3000RS/SD/BM/BX pumps:

  • 6-pin Mini-DIN signal cable (Dionex part no. 6000.1004)

  • Required pump firmware version: 2.20 or higher

- All other UltiMate 3000 pumps:

  • Shutdown cable (Dionex part no. 6035.0004).

  • Required pump firmware version: 3.05 or higher

For details on installing the cables, refer to

Corona CAD: Interfacing the detector with an UltiMate 3000 Pump

     Dionex/ESA Interface Cable

For details on cable connections when operating the Corona Veo detector with an UltiMate 3000 pump and an OAS-3x00TXRS autosampler, refer to:

UltiMate 3000 Series OAS-3x00TXRS Autosampler: Connecting the Autosampler.

Limitations:

If multiple Corona detectors are installed on a single PC, communication problems may occur in the following situations:

  • when switching off one of the detectors,

  • when connecting an additional detector with the PC.

To resolve the communication problems, you have to re-assign the USB address to the detector. To do so, on the General tab page, click Browse in order to load the correct USB address again.

Control Panel:

To control the detector, use

  • panel tabsets (refer to How to:  Controlling Devices from the Panel Tabset)

    OR

  • Corona_Veo.pan from the
    Dionex Templates\Panels\Dionex_LC
    folder in the Browser

Hardware Installation

Safety Connection:

 Caution:

Thermo Fisher Scientific recommends connecting the PUMP OFF output contact of the detector to the pump, so that for low input gas pressure, the signal may be used to shut the pump off so that the detector is not flooded with mobile phase.

Device Connection:

First, install the Chromeleon software, and then connect the instrument to the USB port on the Chromeleon server PC.

  1. The Windows Found New Hardware Wizard starts.

  2. Complete the wizard, selecting these options:

When asked if Windows can search for software, select No, not this time.

When asked to choose an installation type, select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced).

When asked to specify the search options, select Include this location in the search.

  1. Click the Browse button and specify the following search location: C:\Chromel\bin\DDK\V1\Drivers\Dionex\CoronaVeo.

  2. When the wizard is finished, the device will be listed in the Device Manager under Dionex USB I/O Devices.

Also refer to Connecting Dionex Devices via USB.
