Configuring the Chromeleon Server
Adding, Configuring, or Deleting Devices

To add a timebase and install the Device Driver(s)

  1. In the Server Configuration program, right-click the server name and select Add Timebase. Edit the name proposed by the system in the New Timebase dialog box as necessary.

When a new timebase is installed in the Server Configuration program, the timebase directory appears in the Chromeleon Browser. It contains a sequence table and a folder for Audit Trails.  If you select Create Folder Structure for Your Data in the New Timebase dialog box, Chromeleon will create a default folder structure in the browser containing several subfolders for storing specific timebase data.

     Note:

You can also rename the automatically created folders, or create a completely different structure.

  2. To install Sharable Devices, for example, the UCI-100 Universal Chromatography Interface, select Add Sharable Device.

  3. To add a chromatography instrument to the selected timebase, select Add Device on the Edit or context menu. Select a manufacturer from the Manufacturers list box and the name of your instrument driver from the Devices list box.

  4. Specify properties for the device. At least one tab page providing alternative options is available for each configurable component. For example, the settings selected on the Relays and Devices tab pages are copied to the State Devices page of the Program Wizard. For more information about the settings, click the Help button or press F1 to open the help page for your specific instrument.

  5. Click File and Save Installation to save the new installation.

 Note:

If your instrument is not listed in the Devices list box, you may be able to control it using one of Chromeleon’s generic drivers (see  Controlling Devices Without a Separate Device Driver).

To configure a device

  1. Right-click the component and select Properties from the context menu.

  2. At least one tab page providing alternative options is available for each configurable component. All settings selected on the Relays and Devices tab pages are copied to the State Devices page of the Program Wizard. For more information about the settings, refer to the context-sensitive online Help.

To delete a device

Right-click the device and select Delete from the context menu.

If the device is shared, the Delete a shared driver dialog box appears. The dialog box contains two options:

 Note:

When you delete a timebase, all devices installed in the timebase are deleted.
