Connecting Devices to the Chromeleon Server
Troubleshooting for USB or TCP/IP Connections

The following table lists the most important error messages that may appear in the Audit Trail if the connection between Chromeleon and the device is not successful. In addition, possible causes and the corresponding remedial actions are suggested. In this case, the messages refer to the P680 pump.

 Tips:

Please keep in mind that, for up to 30 seconds after the server configuration is changed, messages referring to the previous configuration may be displayed. These messages can be ignored. Thus, always note the device name referred to in the message; for example, P680@...

The error messages below may also read either P680@ + serial number (= P680@USB-01610103), or P680@ + IP address (= P680@192.168.50.1), depending on the connection type (USB or TCP/IP) specified for the instrument in the Server Configuration program. (For examples for the USB connection, refer to the second table below.)

Wait for 30 seconds and repeat the procedure.

The pump's subnet mask and gateway address configuration is incorrect.

Make sure that the correct parameters are specified.

A gateway may maintain an unintended connection to the pump as soon as the Chromeleon server is stopped in a non-controlled way.

Restart the pump.

Error opening P680 - Connection timed out.

The Chromeleon server failed to connect to the indicated pump.

Verify that the pump is turned on and that the network connection is working.
Note the name of the indicated pump. It is possible that the Chromeleon server is trying to connect to a pump that is no longer part of the server configuration. Make sure the Module Address is correct and retry.
