Blank Run Sample

A blank run is a chromatogram for which no sample is injected and only the solvent absorption (baseline) is recorded.

In the sample list, blank samples are labeled Blank and marked by the symbol. The Inject command's optional Blank=Inject parameter forces an injection for blank run samples. However, an injection is not usually performed for these samples (Blank=Skip). Apart from this, blank samples in the Program are treated like normal integration samples.

 Tips:

If an ICS-1000/1500/2000 or ICS-1100/1600/2100 Ion Chromatography System does not have an AS, AS50, or AS-AP installed, injection is performed with the Pump_InjectValve.InjectPosition command. Unlike the autosampler Inject command, the Pump_InjectValve.InjectPosition command always performs an injection, even for blank run samples.

Blank samples are stored with the sequence, allowing a Blank Run Subtraction to be performed. Because both the normal and the blank run samples are saved, you can undo the subtraction at any time.

Also, refer to Matrix Blank Sample.
