Kratos Spectroflow 783 UV Detector: Installation

Hardware Installation

Device Connection:

Use a special RS-232 cable (see  Kratos Cable in the Appendix of the Hardware Installation section) to connect the Kratos Spectroflow 783 UV Detector. Connect the cable to he 9-pin port labeled SERIAL A on the rear of the instrument.

Device Settings:

For optimum operation via the RS-232 port, set the Baud Rate (9600 baud) and Response Delay (4/60 s) parameters on the instrument (refer to the detector manual).

Restrictions:

No restrictions known.

 

Software Installation

Install the Device Driver in the Chromeleon Server Configuration. (For more information about the program, refer to Software Installation and Communication  The Server Configuration Program.)

  1. Start the Chromeleon server.

  2. Connect the Kratos detector to the timebase. Select Add Device on the Edit or context menu, and then select Kratos from the Manufacturers list box and Spectroflow 783 UV Detector from the Devices list box.

  3. The following settings are required:

On the General tab page, select the COM port to which the UV detector is connected. In addition, disable the Demo Mode.

On the Signals tab page, double-click the respective channel to open the Signal Configuration dialog box. Assign a channel to the signal and name the signal in the Signal Name field according to the selected detector type.

On the Relays tab page, select all relays.

The Error Levels tab page classifies the severity of any errors that occur. It is generally not necessary to change the default settings.

  1. To control the detector, connect the Kratos783.pan Control Panel in the Chromeleon client to the corresponding timebase.
