Kontron 425 Gradient Former: Installation

Hardware Installation

Device Connection:

Use a special RS-232 cable (see  Kontron Cable in the Appendix of the Hardware Installation section) to connect the Kontron Gradient Former.

Device Settings:

Not required.

Restrictions:

No restrictions known.

 

Software Installation

Install the Device Driver in the Chromeleon Server Configuration. (For more information about the program, refer to Software Installation and Communication  The Server Configuration Program.):

  1. Start the Chromeleon server.

  2. Start the Server Configuration program.

  3. Add the Gradient Former to the timebase. Select Add Device on the Edit or context menu, and then select Kontron from the Manufacturers list box and 425 Gradient Former from the Devices list box.

  4. The following settings are required:

On the General tab page, select the COM port to which the Gradient Former is connected. In addition, disable the Demo Mode.

On the Heads tab page, specify the installed pump head and the BIOS version of your Gradient Former.

On the Solvents tab page, specify the number and name(s) of the solvents delivered by the pump.

The Error Levels tab page classifies the severity of any errors that occur. It is generally not necessary to change the default settings.

  1. To control the Kontron Gradient Former connect the KONT420Gradient.pan Control Panel in the Chromeleon client to the corresponding timebase.

Application

 Tips:

Observe the following order when turning on the instrument: First, turn on the Gradient Former, and then turn on the pump.

When the PC is powered up, incorrect characters may be generated. If this occurs, an error message is displayed. To reset the Kontron instruments:
