Hardware Installation

Device Connection:

First, install Chromeleon software, and then connect the instrument to the Chromeleon server PC.

For detailed information about how to connect the system modules, refer to the pump's operating instructions.

Also refer to Connecting Dionex Devices via USB.

 Caution:

Dionex recommends using the USB ports for connections to Dionex instruments only. Dionex cannot guarantee correct functioning if instruments from other manufacturers are connected.

Pressure (Analog Pressure Output)

The analog pressure output records the operating pressure of the pump. For more information, refer to Practical Tips for Device Control   Recording the Pump Pressure.

Solvent Rack or External MSV port

The port label (Solvent Rack or External MSV) and the pump serial number on the pump's rear panel indicate whether you can use this port to control an SOR-100 Solvent Rack with integrated degasser or an external motorized switching valve (MSV-6 or MSV-2x3 - no longer available from Dionex).

 Tip:

Do not substitute any other motorized switching valve for the Dionex MSV-6 or MSV-2x3 motorized switching valve! Please note that these valves are no longer available from Dionex.

RS-232 port

Use the RS-232 port on the pump's rear panel, e.g., to connect a Dionex ASI-100 autosampler. Depending on its connection mode, the pump converts the RS-232 communication to a LAN or USB transfer.

 Tip:

Verify that the pump is connected to Chromeleon via USB or via an instrument LAN. The RS-232 port is not supported when the pump is connected to Chromeleon via an office LAN.

If you use the Disconnect command in Chromeleon to disconnect the pump from Chromeleon, all other instruments connected via this RS-232 interface are automatically disconnected, also.

Device Settings:

Check the correct line voltage setting. If the setting is not appropriate for your local requirements, reset the voltage at the selector on the pump's rear panel as described in the operating instructions for the pump and install the appropriate fuse(s), if necessary.
