Commands and Tips for Third-Party Devices
Agilent 6890/6850 GCs: Detectors
The following commands and properties are available (please note that the display Filter level determines which commands and properties are displayed):
Property |
Min. |
Max. |
Default |
Description |
Autozero |

- |
Chromeleon supports this command for compatibility reasons. You cannot perform the command from the command interface on the GC. Perform the command via the device keypad if necessary. |
CombinedFlow |
0.0 ml/min |
1000.0 ml/min |
- |
Combined gas flow (makeup + inlet gas). (For detectors without EPC option, this property is read-only.) |
Combined |
0.0 ml/min |
1000.0 ml/min |
- |
(For detectors with EPC option) Specifies the target combined flow. |
Combined |
0.0 ml/min |
1000.0 ml/min |
- |
(For detectors with EPC option) Indicates the current combined flow (read-only) |
Data_Collection_ |
0.1, 0.2, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 5.0, 10.0, 20.0, 50.0, 100.0 Hz |
² (Demo |
The property is available only for instruments with digital data acquisition mode. |
|
FastPeaks |
Off |
On |
² (Demo |
If set to On, the peak width is 0.004 min (8 Hz bandwidth). Otherwise, the peak width is 0.001 min (1.6 Hz bandwidth). |
MakeupFlow |
0.0 ml/min |
100.0 ml/min |
² (Demo mode: 10.0 ml/min) |
Properties related to the makeup gas flow (see Front/Back Detector tab page in the Server Configuration program). |
MakeupFlow. |
0.0 ml/min |
100.0 ml/min |
² (Demo mode: 10.0 ml/min) |
Specifies the target makeup gas flow. |
MakeupFlow. |
0.0 ml/min |
100.0 ml/min |
- |
Current makeup gas flow (read-only). |
MakeupFlowCtrl (Detectors with EPC option) |
Off |
On) |
² (Demo |
Turns the makeup gas flowon and off. |
MakeupMode |
Make |
Combined) |
² (Demo |
Determines which flow is kept constant: Make-up or Combined. (The property is available only for FID; TCD, ECD, µ-ECD, NPD, and FPD detectors.) |
Range |
0 |
13 |
² (Demo |
Data acquisition range. The range sets an amplification factor. The signal range and the smallest signal step depend on the range. The smaller the range, the smoother the signal obtained. Therefore, if a small range is selected, small signals are more precise, however, high peaks may be cut off. Analog data acquisition: the range has an effect on the signal amplitude (in mV). The maximum signal value is always 10V (or 1V for some cables). Digital data acquisition: Chromeleon compensates the signal value. The signal amplitude (in pA) is independent of the range. |
TempCtrl |
Off |
On |
² (Demo |
Specifies the state of the temperature control. If set to Off, temperature control is disabled. The property is automatically set to On when a temperature value is entered in the Temperature field. |
Temperature |
- |
- |
- |
Properties related to the temperature of the heated zone. |
Temperature. |
0 |
450°C |
² (Demo |
Specifies the target temperature for the heated zone. |
Temperature. |
0.0°C |
450.0°C |
- |
Actual temperature of the heated zone (read-only). |

Installed detector type: 6890: 6850: (read-only) |
Note:
² When connecting, Chromeleon reads the value from the instrument and accepts it as the default.
