Dionex Eluent Generators
In addition to the General Device Commands, the following commands are available for controlling Dionex eluent generators. The selected Filter level determines which commands are displayed in the Commands dialog box. To select the filter level, right-click in the commands list.
Dionex offers the following eluent generators:
ICS-5000 EG, ICS-3000 EG, EG50, and EG40. These eluent generators are separate modules and are configured as separate devices in a Timebase.
ICS-4000, ICS-2100, and ICS-2000 Ion Chromatography System eluent generators. These eluent generators are integrated into the system module and are configured in a timebase as part of the ICS system.
Command |
Description |
CartridgeExpirationDate |
Reports the expiration date of the cartridge (read-only). |
CartridgeNumber |
Reports the serial number of the cartridge. |
CartridgeRemainingLifeTime |
(not available for all eluent generators) Reports the percentage of the original ion count remaining in the cartridge (read-only). |
CartridgeType |
Reports the cartridge type currently installed (read-only). |
Concentration |
Sets the eluent concentration to be generated. |
Curve |
Sets the curve number for gradients. Refer to Gradient Curves for an explanation of curve numbers. |
The following commands are available for all eluent generators, except the EG40 or EG50
Command |
Description |
CR_TC |
Turns the CR-TC (Continuously Regenerated Trap Column) on or off. The CR-TC removes anionic or cationic contaminants in the eluent or deionized water. |
EgcCurrent |
Indicates the current value of the cartridge (read-only). |
EgcVoltage |
Indicates the voltage value of the cartridge (read-only). |
FlowStatus |
Reports the status of the pump flow (flow detected or not flow detected) (read-only). |
InstConcentration |
Reports the concentration of eluent currently being generated (read-only). |
Mode |
Turns the eluent generator on or off. |
TotalConcentration |
Reports the total concentration of eluent being generated by the K2CO3 cartridge when carbonate/bicarbonate is the eluent type. The total is equal to the set concentration of the K2CO3 cartridge plus the set concentration of the pH modifier (read-only). |

Calibration Commands (Available for the EG40 and EG50 Only)
Command |
Description |
DownloadCalibration |
Downloads the selected set of calibration values to the detector. |
DownloadCalibration Parameter |
Selects the set of calibration values (Current, Previous, or Factory) to be downloaded. |
LeakDet |
Performs the leak detector calibration. |
Diagnostic Commands (Available for the EG40 and EG50 Only)
Command |
Description |
LeakDetTest |
Performs a test of the leak detector. |
LeakDetTestDate |
Reports the date of the leak detector test. |
LeakDetTestResult |
Reports the result (pass or fail) of the leak detector test. |
Equilibration commands and properties (Available for the ICS-3000 EG, ICS-4000 EG, and ICS-5000 EG only)
Tip:
Use the equilibration commands and properties only for the SmartStartup feature.
Command/Property |
Description |
RemainingPercentage Threshold |
Sets the minimum percentage of the original ion count allowed. If the remaining ion percentage falls below this threshold, equilibration does not complete. |
CartridgeRemaining Percentage |
Reports the percentage of the original ion count remaining in the cartridge (read-only). For capillary cartridges, this field displays N/A until the cartridge capacity reaches 10%. |
