and

Jasco: Jasco920_Fluorescence_Detector or

What is required?

License:

Timebase Class 3

Connection:

Special RS-232 cable (see  Jasco Cable).

Hardware
Prerequisites:

Control Panels:

Jasco970.pan (for UV detectors) and.
Jasco920.pan (for fluorescence detectors)

Hardware Installation

Device Connection:

Use a special RS-232 cable (see  Jasco Cable) to connect the Jasco detectors.

Data acquisition via a UCI Universal Chromatography Interface additionally requires connecting the green wire (digital GND) of the UCI analog cable to the REC/GND terminal of the Jasco UV detectors (or the REG/G terminal of the fluorescence detector, respectively). In addition, the ground the UCI analog cable to the detector housing. (Do not confuse with the REG/GND terminal - the shield ground, that is, the knurled nut at the housing, is called GND as well.)

Device Settings:

Set the jumpers on the control card of the serial interface on the Jasco device (directly at the 25-pin serial female connector) as follows (very often the factory default setting is different!):

UV detectors:

Fluorescence detectors:

Otherwise, serial control will not be possible. As soon as there is a physical connection, the instrument and the software can be installed in the Server Configuration.

Interface parameters: 4800 baud; 8 data bits; no parity; 2 stop bits; handshake XON.

Software Installation

Install the Device Driver in the Chromeleon Server Configuration. (For more information about the program, refer to Software Installation and Communication  The Server Configuration Program.)

  1. Start the Chromeleon server.

  2. Start the Server Configuration program.

  3. Add the Jasco detector to the selected timebase. Select Add Device on the Edit or context menu, and then select Jasco from the Manufacturers list box and one of the following entries from the Devices list box: Jasco970_UV_VIS_Detector, Jasco975/1575_UV_VIS_Detector, Jasco920_Fluorescence_Detector, or Jasco1520_Fluorescence_Detector.

  4. The following settings are required:

On the Jasco970_UV_VIS_Detector tab page (or on the Jasco975/1575_UV_VIS_Detector, Jasco920_Fluorescence_Detector, and Jasco1520_Fluorescence_Detector tab pages respectively), disable the Demo Mode.

On the UV_VIS_1 (or Fluorescence) tab page, accept the name, for example, UV_VIS_1. In addition, select the COM port to which the detector is connected as well as the channel to be used for data acquisition.

The Error Levels tab page classifies the severity of any errors that occur. It is generally not necessary to change the default settings.

  1. To control the Jasco detectors, connect the Jasco970.pan (UV detector) or Jasco920.pan (fluorescence detector) Control Panel in the Chromeleon client to the corresponding timebase.

Application

Nothing particular known.
