What is required?

Connection:

 

Use an Ethernet LAN cable, which is shipped from Agilent with the autosampler to connect the device to the network.

–OR–-

Use a  standard crossover cable to connect the autosampler directly to the server PC.

Hardware Prerequisites:

A free Ethernet LAN port is required.

Firmware Prerequisites:

Tested for firmware A.01.08

Hardware Installation

Device Connection:

Ethernet LAN connection (it is not possible to connect the autosampler via an RS-232 interface).

Tips:

For better reliability, Dionex recommends connecting the Headspace autosampler to a separate device LAN and  not to the Office LAN.  

It is not possible to connect the autosampler via an RS-232 interface.

Instrument Synchronization

Synchronization between the autosampler and the GC can either be realized via a Remote cable connecting the autosampler with the GC or via Chromeleon.

Synchronization via remote cable:

The Remote cable is provided by Agilent. For information on performing synchronization using a remote cable, refer to 7890 GC: Instrument Synchronization.

Synchronization via Chromeleon:

  • Remove the Remote cable between the autosampler and the GC.

  • On the Server Configuration page of the G1888 Headspace sampler, set GC Handshake to None.

Device Settings
(LAN):

To control the Headspace autosampler via a LAN connection, make the following settings on the autosampler display:

  1. Press Menu -> Advanced Functions -> Enable RS232 -> No

  2. Select Advanced Functions -> LAN Configuration

  3. Enter a free IP address, e.g.,:
    IP Address      192.168.100.2

  4. Adapt the Subnet Mask settings to the TCP/IP settings on the network card.

  5. Configure the Gateway, if necessary:
    Gateway         0.0.0.0

  6. Press Clear to return to the main screen.

 

Software Installation

  1. In the Chromeleon Server Configuration, add the driver to a timebase. For details, see Adding, Configuring or Deleting Devices. After you add the driver, the configuration dialog opens automatically.

  2. On each properties tab page, select the desired settings. For information about the settings on a page, click the Help button on a page or press F1.

  1. To control the G1888 Headspace autosampler, connect the Agilent_HS_G1888.pan Control Panel in the Chromeleon client to the corresponding timebase.
