Locking Datasources, Directories, and Sequences

To protect data and results, you can lock Datasources, directories, or sequences. It is not possible to modify the locked object and all objects underneath. For example, if a datasource is locked, all directories and sequences in the datasource are locked as well. In the Browser, a red lock indicates that the object is locked.

How To

To remove the lock, return to the Properties dialog box and clear the Locked check box.

 Note:

Access Control determines the locking and sharing of objects. Thus, only users with the corresponding privileges can perform these operations.

You can control access to datasources and directories by selecting the Locked check box as described above or by adding or removing Access Groups:

Only users who are members of an Access Group listed under Access Groups are authorized to access datasources and directories. The system administrator determines the Access Group membership in the User Manager (CmUser program).

In addition, you can protect datasources from access via the Windows Explorer (see  Protecting Datasources from Access via the Windows Explorer).
