Configuring the Chromeleon Server
Sharing Devices and Components

Certain devices and components can be shared by two different timebases. When a timebase needs to execute a command on a shared device or component, it acquires control (exclusive access) over the device or component. When the command is complete, the timebase releases exclusive access, freeing the device to be used by the other timebase.

  1. To configure a shared device, select the device in the Server Configuration and select Properties on the context menu.

A list of available timebases is displayed either on the General tab page or on the Sharing tab page, depending on the device.

  2. Select the two timebases that will share the device and click OK.

Notice that the device appears in both timebases.

Examples of devices and components that can be shared include the AS, AS50 (USB), AS-AP, and WPS-3000 autosamplers; the DGP-3600 and DP pumps; the DC upper oven (Compartment_TC) and the DC lower oven (Column_TC); and the DC TTL inputs.

 Note:

Exclusive access is not required for control of the DC TTL inputs.
