Commands and Tips for Third-Party Devices
Polymer Laboratories ELS 2100 (Ice) / Varian 380-LC (385-LC) ELS Detectors: Commands and Tips

The ELS 2100 and the ELS 380-LC/385-LC drivers support the following commands and properties (please note that the display Filter level determines which commands and properties are displayed):

General commands and tips:

Command/Property	Description
Autozero	Sets the signal output to 10 mV.
AZ_Done	Reports the status of an autozero command (Busy or Done).
ClearDisplayError	Clears any error messages on the detector's display.
Connect	Connects the device to Chromeleon.
Connected	Indicates whether the detector is connected to Chromeleon, that is, under computer control (also, see Connect, Disconnect).
Data_Collection_Rate	Sets the rate at which Chromeleon collects digital data points from the detector (380-LC/385-LC ELS detectors only). Note: This property must be set directly on the device.
Disconnect	Disconnects the detector from Chromeleon and activates manual control from the panel.
DriverID	Unambiguous driver name.
DriverVersion	Indicates the driver version.
FirmwareVersion	Indicates the firmware version.
Manufacturer	Indicates the manufacturer of the driver.
ModelNo	Indicates the instrument's model number.
ModelVariant	Used by Chromeleon to distinguish between the detector variants.
Ready	Ready indicates that the device is ready for operation, i.e., no Autozero is started, the temperature has been reached, no error has occurred. NotReady indicates that the device is not ready for operation.
Standby	Sets the detector into the Standby mode or cancels this mode (NoStandby). In standby mode, the detector remains connected to Chromeleon. Tip: Run the detector in NoStandby mode for successful data acquisition.

Device properties:

Command/Property	Description
EvaporatorTemperature	Sets the temperature of the evaporator. Available values: Off, 25° C - 120° C or Off, 10° C - 80° C (ELS 2100 Ice).
*.Nominal	Actual evaporator temperature.
*.Value	Current evaporator temperature.
NebuliserTemperature	Sets the nebulizer temperature. Available values: Off, 25° C - 90° C.
*.Nominal	Sets the nominal nebulizer temperature.
*.Value	Reports the actual nebulizer temperature.
CarrierFlow	Sets the carrier gas flow in [slm]. Available values: 0,90 slm - 3,25 slm.
*.Nominal	Sets the nominal carrier gas flow.
*.Value	Reports the actual carrier gas flow.

Channel properties and commands:

Command/Property	Description
AcqOn/Off	Starts/ Ends data acquisition
Average	Averages all measured values. ON: Averages all measured values over the step interval (recommended). OFF: Records only the last sample of each interval.
Delta	Reports the signal's slope, i.e., the difference between the value and the value 1 second ago.
MaxAutoStep	Sets the maximum step rate for Step = Auto; default: 5.1 s.
Retention	Indicates the retention time for the signal in [ms].
Signal	Indicates the signal value in [mV].
Step	Sets the step for data acquisition; default: Auto: Selects the best step dynamically (recommended).

Special commands:

Command/Property	Description
AnalogVoltage	Analog output voltage that corresponds to the current value .
LightSourceIntensity	Sets the light intensity of the diode. Possible values: 1% - 100%.
PMTGain	Defines an internal gain factor with which the current value is multiplied. However, this value has no effect on the signal-to-noise-ratio.
SmoothWidth	Specifies the number of data points used for data smoothing in the detector.
