Commands and Tips for Third-Party Devices
Perkin Elmer Series 200 Autosampler

Chromeleon provides the commands and parameters from the table below (please note that the display Filter level determines which commands and properties are displayed) to control the Series 200 Autosampler. Also, refer to the information in the autosampler's Operating Instructions.

General Commands and Properties:

Command/Property

Description

Connect

Connects the device to Chromeleon

Connected

Indicates whether the instrument is connected to Chromeleon, that is, under computer control (also, see Connect, Disconnect)

Disconnect

Disconnects the instrument from Chromeleon and activates manual control from the instrument panel.

DriverID

Unambiguous driver name (read-only).

DriverVersion

Driver version (read-only).

Inject

Performs an injection using the specified parameters (Blank, Position, Volume).

Manufacturer

Manufacturer of the driver (read-only).

Ready

Indicates whether the autosampler is ready for injection. Values: Ready, NotReady (read-only).

Status

Indicates the current status of the autosampler (read-only).
Values: Ready, Running, NotReady, Error, Flushing, NoVial

SyringeVolume

Indicates the volume of the installed syringe.

Tray

Indicates the installed tray type (read-only).

Wash

Performs a wash operation.

Special Commands and Properties:

Command/Property

Description

AirGap

Sets the volume [µl] of air drawn before the sample to prevent mixing of the sample and the flush buffer. Range: 1-99 µl.

Derivatization

Enables or disables derivatization.

Values: On (performs derivatization by adding up to 5 different reagents to each sample vial), Off (no derivatization).

DerivMixMode

Determines the mix mode for derivatization.

Values: Standard (no mixing), Intensive (sample is mixed with reagents).

DerivReagentVials

Sets the number of reagent vials used for derivitazation. Depending on the installed tray type, you can select up to 5 vials.

EndRunWashCycles

Sets the number of wash cycles after the sample run.
Range: 0 - 9

ExcessVolume

Sets the excess sample volume that is drawn during sample processing. Range: 0-100 µl.

InjectDelay

Delays sample injection by the selected time to compensate for the dead volume between the pump and the autosampler. Range: 0-999,0 min

InjectMode

Determines injection mode:

Partial Loop (the loop is partially filled with liquid)

Full-Loop (the loop is completely filled with liquid)

MixSpeedIn

Sets the speed for drawing the mix volume. Values: VerySlow, Slow, Medium, Fast and VeryFast.

Select slow or very slow speeds for viscous samples.

MixSpeedOut

Sets the speed for dispensing the mix volume.

PreInjWashCycles

Sets the number of wash cycles performed before the sample is drawn and injected.

PostInjWashCycles

Sets the number of wash cycles performed after the sample was drawn and injected.

SampleHeight

Determines how far the sample needle moves into the sample vial. The value corresponds to a percentage of the total distance from the shoulder (top) of the sample vial to the bottom of the vial holder.Values: 1% - 99%.  0% is at the bottom of the vial holder, 99% is at the top.

SamplePumpPause

Sets the time (in seconds) that the autosampler pauses after each sample syringe movement.

Position

Determines the sample's position on the sample tray. Values: 1-384 (depending on the tray type). Also see Tray.

R1/R2/R3/R4/R5_MixCycles

Sets the  number of cycles for mixing the reagent and sample. Range: 0 - 9.

R1/R2/R3/R4/R5_Position

Determines the position of the reagent source vial (R1-R5) that is used for derivatization.

Values: 1-384 (depending on the tray type, also see Tray).

R1/R2/R3/R4/R5_ReactionTime

Sets the reaction time of the derivatized sample.

R1/R2/R3/R4/R5_Volume

Sets the transfer volume for the reagent (R1-R5) used for derivatization. Range: 1-250 µl.

SampleSpeed

Sets the speed at which the sample syringe aspirates and dispenses sample.

VialVenting

If vial venting is enabled (On), air is injected into the sample vial before sample is drawn. The air volume is the sample volume plus the buffer volume. Off = no prior injection of air into the vial.

Volume

Sets the injection volume. The maximum volume depends on the volume of the installed syringe  (see table below):

Syringe volume:

Maximum injection volume:

    50 µl

   40 µl

  100 µl

   83 µl

  250 µl

 213 µl

  500 µl

 448 µl

1000 µl

 998 µl

2500 µl

2498 µl

  Note:

Only integers are allowed as values for the injection volume.

WashCycles

Determines the number of wash cycles activated by the Wash command. Range: 0 - 9.

WashSpeed

Sets the speed for washing the needle. Values: VerySlow, Slow, Fast, VeryFast.

WashVolume

Sets the volume of liquid used for washing the needle before and after each injection.
