Hardware Installation
First, install Chromeleon software, and then connect the instrument using the GPIB IEEE 488 bus cable from Dionex.
Follow the description in the instrument's manual to set the GPIB number on the instrument's rear panel, using the Dip switches. Make sure that the new GPIB address has not yet been assigned to another instrument.
Notes:
When using a Waters 996 PDA detector with an Alliance HPLC system, make sure that:
Only one (1) Alliance HPLC system per GPIB interface card (GPIB bus) is allowed. If more than one Alliance system should be connected, a separate GPIB card for each system is required on the computer. Alternatively, you can use two separate USB GPIB adapters. Do not mix GPIB cards from different manufacturers. When using USB GPIB adapters, use adapters of the same type.
Make sure that only one (1) Waters 996 PDA detector is connected per Alliance system and GPIB bus.
When connecting several devices or systems via GPIB, connect them in series (not in a star structure) and turn all devices on. Otherwise, communication problems may occur.
Software Installation
