Installing Thermo Scientific Devices
Vanquish Diode Array Detector: Installation

Device Type:

Diode array detector

Device Driver:

Thermo Scientific HPLC: Vanquish Diode Array Detector

Hardware Options
Supported:

  • Analog data acquisition via optional DAC board

For information about the available configurations, refer to the operating instructions for the instrument.

Restrictions:

A maximum of two diode array detectors can be installed on one server.

What is required?

License:

Timebase Class 1

To allow acquisition of 3D data, the 3-D Data Acquisition license is required in addition to the Timebase Class 1 license.

Connection:

A free USB 2.0 port and the following cable is required:

USB 2.0 cable to connect the detector to the server PC via the USB port

Hardware Requirements:

  • Standard USB cable

  • Standard USB 2.0 port is required

 Note:

The Vanquish DAD device offers an USB 2.0 hub which can be used to connect the other Vanquish devices to it.

Recording of 3D data fields at 200 Hz requires high-performance hardware. In addition, it creates about 15 MB of data per minute (over the entire wavelength range of 190 to 680 nm, 1 nm bunch width). Make sure sufficient disk space is available on the instrument controller PC, data vault server, and client stations.

PC Requirements:

For information about PC requirements please refer to the Chromeleon Release Notes.

Hardware Installation

Device Connection:

Connect the device to the USB port on the Chromeleon server PC. Thermo Fisher Scientific recommends the following approach:

  1. Connect all devices to the detector.

  2. Connect the system to the Chromeleon computer via one connection only.

 Note:

Thermo Fisher Scientific recommends using the USB ports for connections to Thermo Scientific instruments only. Thermo Fisher Scientific cannot guarantee correct functioning if instruments from other manufacturers are connected.

For more information about how to connect the system devices, refer to the instrument's operating manuals.

Also refer to Connecting Dionex Devices via USB.

Software Installation

  1. In the Chromeleon Server Configuration, add the driver to a timebase. For details, see Adding, Configuring or Deleting Devices. After you add the driver, the configuration dialog opens automatically.

  2. On each properties tab page, select the desired settings. For information about the settings on a page, click the Help button on a page or press F1.

  3. When you have completed the driver settings, right-click the server symbol under which the timebase is installed and select Properties. On the Advanced tab page, verify that the value in the Spectra field is at least 5000. Lower spectra buffers can result in buffer overflows when high data collection rates are used.
