Installing and Controlling Thermo Scientific Devices
Thermo Scientific Accela Autosampler and PDA: LAN Connection

This topic refers to the Accela Autosampler and Accela PDA (20 and 80 Hz variants).

 Notes:

Support of the Accela 80 Hz PDA Detector is available starting with the SR11 Driver Update that provides extended Accela system support.

What is required?

Connection:

A free Ethernet port and the following cable are required:

  • Ethernet LAN cable, which is shipped from Thermo Scientific with the instrument

-or-

  • standard crossover cable to connect the instrument directly to the server PC

Hardware Installation

Device Connection:

  1. Connect the instrument to an Ethernet switch or hub using the Ethernet LAN cable shipped with the instrument.

  2. Configure the TCP/IP network settings for the network interface card inside the PC as follows: Enter the Subnet Mask (255.255.0.0) and IP address (172.16.yy.zz) to be used. Note that the addresses 172.16.0.0 and 172.16.255.255 are reserved for special purposes and therefore cannot be used. For the Accela PDA 80 Hz detector, the IP address of the network interface card must be set to 172.16.0.101.

For information about how to setup the TCP/IP connection, also refer to  TCP/IP (LAN) and the related subtopics.

Device Settings:

If necessary, use the rotary switches located on the rear panel to change the module ID (and thus the IP address) of the instrument:

The range of values is from 01–99. The default value is 01. The value 00 is reserved for special service settings.

After changing the rotary switch settings, the instrument must be powered OFF and ON again.

Notes:

Use identical module IDs for all modules in the same stack.

When connecting more than one stack via Ethernet, make sure that modules of the same type (for example, two PDA detectors) within the network use different module IDs. Therefore, use a different module ID for each stack.

For detailed information, refer to the hardware manual for the instrument.
