Use a  Null Modem Cable (RS232 cable) with 9-pin connector (Dionex part no. 1310.2263) to connect the pump to the PC.

 Tip:  

If the PC has a 25-pin COM port, an adapter cable is required.

The pump cannot be controlled via a UCI interface.

Caution:

It is not possible to connect the pump to the PC via the (optional) IntegralLink card (neither on the serial part nor IEEE/GPIB port of the IntegralLink card).

Device Connection:

Tip:

Before connecting the pump, remove all hardware synchronization cables, except the cable that connects the Ready Out port of the pump with the external Ready In port of the autosampler.

Device Settings:

  • To control the pump via Chromeleon, make the following settings on the pump's Configure Screen:
    CNFG -> COMM -> EXTERNAL

  • Also, Dionex recommends changing the pressure unit to bar so that the pressure values in Chromleon and the pump are identical. To change the pressure unit, make the following settings on the pump's Configure Screen:
    CNFG ->INST -> UNIT ->BAR

Software Installation

Install the Device Driver in the Chromeleon Server Configuration. (For more information about the program, refer to Software Installation and Communication  The Server Configuration Program.)

  1. Start the pump and the Chromeleon server.

  2. Start the Server Configuration program.

  3. Add the pump to the selected timebase. Select Add Device on the Edit or context menu, and then select Perkin Elmer from the Manufacturers list box and LC200 Pump from the Devices list box.

  4. The following settings are required:

    On the PE LC200 Pump Configuration tab page, select the general parameters, such as the device name and COM port. Also, verify that the Demo Mode is disabled.
