What is required?

License:

Timebase Class 1

Connection:

A free RS232 port and one of the following Null Modem Cables (depending on the connection) are required :

  • 9-pin/9-pin cable for connecting the autosampler via the P680 pump: part no. 8030.9001 (shipped with the instrument)

    OR

  • 9-pin/9-pin cable for connecting the autosampler directly to the server PC: part no.: 8914.0130

    OR

  • 25-pin/9-pin cable for connecting the autosampler directly to the server PC: part no. 8914.0103A

  • optional: 25-pin ribbon cable (Dionex part no. 8025.9001) for the remote input and relay contacts (shipped with the instrument)

  • optional: 15-pin ribbon cable (Dionex part no. 8810.9001) for sample position output (shipped with the instrument)

Control Panel:

To control the instrument, use

  • panel tabsets (refer to How to:  Controlling Devices from the Panel Tabset in the User Help section)

    OR

  • a suitable panel from the
    Dionex Templates\Panels\Dionex_LC
    folder in the Browser.

 

Hardware Installation

Device Connection:

First, install Chromeleon software, and then connect the instrument to the RS232 port on the Chromeleon server PC.

It is possible to connect the autosampler to the P680 pump, and then connect the system to the Chromeleon server PC via only one connection. For more information about how to connect the system modules, refer to the operating instructions for the pump.

MSV

The autosampler can be equipped with a second Dionex MSV-6 motorized switching valve (part no. 5804.0002) that is externally operated. External control is via the 15-pin socket on the instrument's rear (MSV).

Device Settings:

Check the correct line voltage setting. If the setting is not appropriate for your local requirements, reset the voltage at the selector on the autosampler's rear panel as described in the operating instructions for the autosampler and install the appropriate fuse(s), if necessary.

Restrictions:

With 2500 µl syringes, the system pressure must not exceed 200 bar (20 MPa = 290 psi).

 

Software Installation

For details about how to add timebases and device drivers to the configurations, refer to Adding, Configuring or Deleting Devices. When you add a driver to the timebase, the configuration dialog or wizard opens automatically. For information about the settings, click the Help button on a page or press F1.
