Installing and Controlling Thermo Scientific Devices
Finnigan/TSP UV6000 PDA Detector: Installation

Device Type:

Photodiode Array Detector

Device Driver:

Thermo Scientific: TSP UV6000 PDA

Hardware Options
Supported:

Digital data acquisition for up to 3 channels

 Note:

The UV6000 detector was tested with RAM firmware versions 1.4 and 1.8, as well as with ROM firmware 0.2.

Restrictions:

  • Only two photodiode array detectors are permitted on one server PC.

  • Support for scanning, i.e., spectra acquisition, is not available.

  • You cannot change acquisition parameters (for example, wavelength, 3D field, or data range) while data acquisition is running.

  • Chromeleon currently does not support the wavelength calibration and dark current functions.

What is required?

License:

Timebase Class 1
3D Data Acquisition (for recording 3D data)

Connection:

A free RS-232 port and the following cable are required:

RS-232 cable (Dionex part no.: 8914.0150A). For more information, refer to  TSP Cable.

Control Panel:

TSP_UV6000.pan

Hardware Installation

Connect the RS-232 cable to a COM port on the Chromeleon Server PC.

 Tips:

You cannot connect the UV6000 PDA Detector to a UCI Universal Chromatography Interface because the UCI does not support the required baud rate of 115,200.To control the detector, use a free RS-232 port on the PC. If more RS-232 ports are needed, install an RS-232 interface card. (For example, refer to Installing PC Plug-In Cards  Installing the Serial RS-232 Interface Card (Meilhaus).)

When you install the detector in Chromeleon, verify that the Start and Stop inputs are not connected. This will ensure error-free control of the device.

Software Installation

For details about how to add timebases and device drivers to the Server Configuration, refer to Adding, Configuring or Deleting Devices. When you add a driver to the timebase, the configuration dialog or wizard opens automatically. For information about the settings, click the Help button on a page or press F1
