What is required?

Connection:

A free RS232 port for each valve and the following items are required:

the modem cable (Sub-D 9 female to Sub-D 9 female) shipped with the valve

 Note:  

The Dionex modem cable does not provide two female connectors. That is why you cannot use the Dionex modem cable in this case.

Control Panel:

To control the instrument, use the vici_valve.pan panel from the
Dionex Templates\Panels\LC_Other
folder in the Browser.

 

Hardware Installation

Device Connection:

First, install Chromeleon software, and then connect the instrument to the RS232 port on the Chromeleon server PC.

Device Settings:

The following settings are supported:

 Baud rate 9600

 Data bits 8

 Stop bits 1

 Parity None

 Handshake Off

 

EV Driver Card: Set the DIP switches as follows:

 SW3-1  ON

 SW3-2  ON

 SW3-3 ON: RS-232 control via J2

 SW3-4 ON: 9600 Baud

 SW3-5  ON

 SW3-6  ON

 SW3-7 ON

 SW3-8 OFF

 Tip:

This is the default setting for valves ordered from Dionex. In all other cases, set the DIP switches 3 and 4 to ON.

LabPro Driver Card: Cards with a model number ending in -02 are designed for RS-232 communication. Cards with a model number ending in -03 are designed for RS-485 communication. You can control these cards, but several settings will be required. For more information, contact your Dionex Service representative.

 

Software Installation

For details about how to add timebases and device drivers to the Server Configuration, refer to Adding, Configuring or Deleting Devices. When you add a driver to the timebase, the configuration dialog or wizard opens automatically. For information about the settings, click the Help button on a page or press F1.
