Hardware Options
Supported:

Heat-only column oven and Peltier column oven including the following functions:

  • Locking of instrument keypad

  • Setting the nominal temperature

  • Setting a valid temperature range ('ReadyTempDelta').
    For example, when setting the 'ReadyTempDelta' and 'EquilibrationTime' to 2 minutes, the oven enters the 'Ready' status if the actual temperature is within the nominal temperature ± 1°C for 2 minutes.

  • Setting the equilibration time frame for temperature 'Ready' condition

Restrictions:

The following instruments and options are not supported:

  • Peltier column oven with selector valve

  • Leakage alarm handling

Connection:

A free 9-pin RS-232 port must be available on the Chromeleon Server PC (or on a Multi-COM card). To connect the column oven to the PC, the following cable is required:

  • RS-232 standard modem cable (25-pin male to 9-pin female) shipped with the instrument (also available via Dionex part no. 8914.0144A).

Tip:

The column oven cannot be controlled via a UCI interface.

Tested for firmware 2.4. (used instrument type: Perkin Elmer Series 200 Peltier Column Oven).

Hardware Installation

Device Connection:

Use the RS-232 connector (25-pin male) on the rear panel of the column oven to connect the instrument to the PC.

 

Software Installation

For details about how to add timebases and device drivers to the Server Configuration, refer to Adding, Configuring or Deleting Devices. When you add a driver to the timebase, the configuration dialog or wizard opens automatically. For information about the settings, click the Help button on a page or press F1.
