Installing Dionex Devices
Switchos Capillary/Nano HPLC Switching Device: Installation of Old Systems

As the valve-switching unit of older Switchos systems is not equipped with an RS232 port, you can control the switching valves by:

• A FAMOS capillary/nano HPLC autosampler

• An UltiMate capillary/nano HPLC system

• A Switchos capillary/nano HPLC pump

Hardware Installation

In addition to the connections described for these instruments, the following connections are required:

Control by a FAMOS capillary/nano HPLC autosampler

Connect the INPUTS port on the Switchos and the P5 port on the FAMOS, using the corresponding connection cable for controlling Switchos by FAMOS P5 Auxiliaries (Dionex/LC Packings part no. 160171). Do not connect the remaining end to any input on the system.

Control by an UltiMate capillary/nano HPLC System (only for Switchos I)

Connect the INPUTS port on the Switchos and the EVENTS output on the UltiMate micropump, using the corresponding connection cable, i.e., the "Cable for controlling Switchos by UltiMate Event Outputs" from Dionex/LC Packings, part no. 160172.

Control by a Switchos capillary/nanoHPLC pump

Connect the INPUTS ports on the Switchos and the EVENTS outputs on the Switchos micropump, using the corresponding connection cable (Dionex/LC Packings part no. 160172).

Software Installation

Add the UltiMate/Switchos System driver to the timebase to install the UltiMate system and the Switchos pump, and make the necessary settings.

For details about how to add timebases and device drivers to the Server Configuration, refer to Adding, Configuring or Deleting Devices. When you add a driver to the timebase, the configuration dialog or wizard opens automatically. For information about the settings, click the Help button on a page or press F1.

 Tips:

To control the Switchos switching valves via relays, use the following relays:

i) Control by the FAMOS autosampler:

Enable the following relays on the Relays tab page of the FAMOS autosampler:

ii) Control by the UltiMate system (only for Switchos I):

Enable the following relays on the Relays tab page of the UltiMate system:

iii) Control by the Switchos pump (Default for Switchos II when installed via the Dionex LC Packings UltiMate/Switchos device driver.):

Enable and rename the following relays on the Relays tab page of the UltiMate system:
