Installing the Serial PCI Interface Card (VScom)
Installing the VScom Card under Windows XP
Tips:
The serial VScom PCI interface card is no longer available from Dionex. However, as serial VScom PCI interface cards may still be used in the field, refer to the corresponding installation instructions below.
This card is not supported under Windows Vista or later.
Device Driver Installation
To install the VScom card under Windows XP, insert the PCI card and start Windows. Start the DrvConf.exe program from the disc shipped with the card. DrvConf will recognize the new VScom PCI card and the installed ports.
When the installation of the new card is complete, the Configuration dialog box appears.
Select the required card and change the configuration of individual ports. The following Port Settings are possible:
Name: |
Select the COM port assignment. The supported settings are COM5 to COM255. COM1 to COM4 are assigned to specific addresses and cannot be selected. |
|
|
Address: |
The addresses for ports of the cards VScom 400 PCI and VScom 800 PCI are automatically assigned by the BIOS (setting PCI Automatic) and cannot be changed. |
|
|
IRQ: |
The interrupt of the card is assigned by the PCI BIOS and cannot be changed (PCI Automatic). |
|
|
UART: |
The port is supplied with an UART of this type. Usually, it is not possible to change this parameter. It is recognized by the program and read-only. |
Tip:
To use the PCI card with Chromeleon, enter Low (up to 115 kbps) as the Speed Mode and select Overspeed: 1 in the configuration dialog box.
After you have made all settings, accept them by clicking OK. The DrvConf.exe configuration program will then use these settings for the VSCom PCI card, copy the required device driver software, and restart the system.
After the restart, the ports of the new VScom PCI card are available in the system. You can now access the card under Windows XP.
If problems arise during installation, refer to Troubleshooting for possible remedial actions.
