TCP/IP Control: Settings on the Varian CP-3800 GC
The following steps are required to control the Varian CP-3800 GC via TCP/IP:
Connect the Varian CP-3800 GC to a PC via a 10Base2-Ethernet cable.
Turn on the Varian CP-3800 GC.
When the device has started, press the Setup button.
To start Ethernet setup, press 6.
To set the Use BootP to obtain the IP address option to No, click the +(Inc) button.
Enter the IP address to be used (here: 192.168.60.235), subnet mask (here: 255.255.255.0) and gateway (the IP address of the instrument NIC, here: 192.168.60.50).
To restart the GC with the new settings, press Save and exit.
To verify the present TCP/IP settings, enter the following command on DOS level:
ping 192.168.60.235
Confirm your input by clicking Enter; you should receive four messages from the associated IP address.
Note:
If you control the Varian CP-3800 GC via TCP/IP, you do not require a BootP Server. Installation of the TCP/IP control is therefore complete.
