Connecting Devices to the Chromeleon Server PC
TCP/IP Control: Address Overview
To set up a Chromeleon server PC with an additional instrument LAN, follow the steps below. Make sure that the following prerequisites are fulfilled:
An office LAN network interface card is installed in your PC.
This network interface card is already configured according to the office LAN.
Chromeleon is installed on your PC.
Tips:
To use a DX-LAN card for a TCP/IP connection (instrument LAN), first uninstall the card completely. Afterward, reinstall the card and establish the connection.
The steps below are intended as guidelines for an example application (also, refer to Setting Up TCP/IP Control (Step by Step) and Selecting IP Addresses). Carefully replace the values indicated here for the IP addresses, subnet masks, etc. with the values that match your application.
The example installation uses the following settings:
The Office LAN network card receives its TCP/IP settings automatically from a DHCP server present on the Office LAN. These settings are:
DHCP Activated: Yes
DHCP Server: 172.20.61.7
IP Address: 172.20.61.96
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
The Instrument LAN is a Class C network which supports up to 253 connected LAN devices with the following addresses:
Network Address: 192.168.60.0
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
The additional instrument LAN network adapter installed in the Chromeleon Server PC receives the following settings:
IP Address: 192.168.60.50
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
The first chromatography instrument connected to the Instrument LAN receives the following settings:
IP Address: 192.168.60.233
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
The second chromatography instrument connected to the Instrument LAN receives the following settings:
IP Address: 192.168.60.234
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
