Use the front and back inlet tab pages to define the inlets installed on the GC.

Option

Description

Installed

This check box appears on both the front and the back inlet tab page. Select this check box if an inlet is installed in the respective position on the GC.

Name

Enter a name for the front or back inlet, if desired, or leave as default.

Type

Select the inlet type: SSL or PTV.

Note:

If the PTV inlet is selected, the Cryogenics Installed check box becomes available.

Column Name

Enter a column name, if desired, or leave as default.

Carrier Gas

Select the carrier gas from the drop-down list. Any changes will be sent to the GC after clicking OK.

Maximum Temperature

Specify the maximum inlet temperature in the available range. The range changes if the cryogenics option is installed on the GC.

Minimum Temperature

Specify the minimum inlet temperature in the available range. The range changes if the cryogenics option is installed on the GC.

Maximum Pressure

Specify the maximum pressure in the available range.

Maximum Flow

Specify the maximum flow in [ml/min].

Maximum Pressure Rate

Specify the maximum pressure rate.

Note:

The Maximum Pressure Rate setting is only available if one of the following applies:

  • Demo mode is on.

  • A new device is being added to the timebase.

  • The actual setting has been obtained from the GC using the Get button.

Backflush Option Installed

Select this check box if a backflush option is installed for this inlet on the GC. Backflush is used to backflush the sample out of the sample loop.

Cryogenics Installed

Select this check box if a cryogenics option is installed on the GC for this inlet.

Helium Saver Installed

(SSL inlet only) Select this check box if a Helium Saver SSL Inlet is installed on the GC, which serves to control helium flow.

Note:

Selecting this check box disables the check boxes Backflush Option Installed and Gas Sampling Valve.

Gas Sampling Valve

(SSL inlet only) Select this check box if a Gas Sampling Valve (GSV) is installed on the GC.

GSVs help to switch gas streams to be introduced into a column.

Notes:

  • Selecting this check box disables the Helium Saver Installed check box.

  • If you want to create a Program (PGM) for the TRACE 1300, and a Trace1300 timebase is configured with a GSV, refer to Thermo Scientific TRACE 1300 Series GC: Program Setup with GSV Inlet for more information.

Get

Click this button to download the hardware configuration from the GC.

Note:

If demo mode is off, the Type, Backflush Option, Helium Saver, Gas Sampling Valve and Cryogenics controls are disabled but will reflect the configuration of the GC.
