Dialog Box:
Server Configuration: Access Control

Specify access to servers and timebases (see  Access Control):

Server and timebase can be made accessible independently from each other to different users.

 Note:

A timebase can only have the rights of the corresponding server; that is, any operation prohibited on the server, such as monitoring, is also prohibited on the subordinate timebase.

Access Groups/List of Access Groups

From the List of All Groups box, select the Access Groups that should receive access to the server or the timebase. Click Add to move the selected Access Groups to the Access Groups list. Every user who is a member of one of the selected Access Groups can now access the server or the timebase if (s)he has the control privilege.

To reverse the action, click Remove. The members of the corresponding Access Group do no longer have access to the server or to the timebase.

Allow Remote ...

The following settings are related to remote control; i.e., access to a server or a timebase via a network connection.

Monitoring

Allows you to monitor the status of the server or timebase and to connect to the timebase from a remote PC.

Control

Allows you to control a specific timebase of a server from a remote PC.

Data Acquisition

Allows you to start Data Acquisition on a specific timebase from a remote PC.

Batch Control

Allows you to start the chromatographic analysis of a Batch in a specific timebase from a remote PC.

 Note:

It is only possible to activate an option for a timebase, if this action is also enabled for the corresponding server.

 Tip:

For these settings to take effect, it is irrelevant whether the User Mode is enabled or disabled.

Via the user mode, it is possible to disable these privileges so that the user can neither access a server and/or a timebase from a different PC nor can (s)he access the servers and/or timebases locally. This setting applies to all timebases and all servers. In this case, the user is not even allowed to control, e.g., a timebase locally on the server PC. Enable or disable these privileges for all servers and timebases in the User Manager (CmUser program). Select Privilege Groups on the View menu and enable or disable the privileges on the CM-Server Control tab page. The equivalence is as follows:

Server: Allow Remote...

(access only from a different PC)

CmUser Privilege

(General access, local access as well)
