Selecting a Default Waveform for Integrated Amperometry

Chromeleon provides default waveforms for the AgCl, pH, and PdH reference modes. You can use these waveforms as is, or modify them for your own applications. If you modify one of the default waveforms, you must save it with a different name. The default waveforms are read-only.

Comments

Gold, Ag-AgCl RE, Carbo, Quad

Carbohydrates, Quad Potential, Ag/AgCl Ref

Au disposable (P/N 060139; pkg. of 6)

AgCl

Can be used with disposable gold electrodes.

Gold, PdH RE, Carbo, Quad

Carbohydrates, Quad Potential, PdH Ref

Au disposable (P/N 060139; pkg. of 6)

PdH

Currently supported only for carbohydrate detection on gold electrodes (gaskets for capillary format required).

To use PdH referencing for other applications, contact Technical Support for Dionex products for the latest information and/or see the Note below.

Gold CWE, Ag-AgCl RE, Carbo, Triple

Carbohydrates, Triple Potential, Conventional Electrode Only

Au (P/N 044112)

AgCl

DO NOT use with disposable gold electrodes; dissolves gold and can cause reproducibility problems.

Amino Acids, Carbohydrates, Water-Soluble Vitamins

Au disposable (P/N 060082; pkg. of 6)

AgCl

For research tasks (e.g, waveform development or separation optimization), use non-disposable gold electrode (P/N 055832).

Gold, pH-Ag-AgCl RE, AAA

Amino Acids, Carbohydrates, Water-Soluble Vitamins

Au disposable (P/N 060082; pkg. of 6)

* Working electrode only (does not include complete electrode cell).

** The same combination electrode (P/N 044198) is used for both the AgCl and pH reference modes.

Note on Converting Ag/AgCl Waveforms for the PdH Reference Electrode

If you want to convert a Ag/AgCl-referenced waveform for use with the PdH reference electrode, add the following potential offset value to each potential of the waveform:

Potential Offset = (eluent pH  x 59) + 148

 Note:

To date, this calculation has been confirmed for alkaline, aqueous eluents only. Contact Technical Support for Dionex products for information regarding PdH referencing in other types of chromatographic eluents.
