TriPlus RSH Sampler: General (GC Headspace)

Define the general settings for the TriPlus RSH autosampler in GC Headspace mode. For details, also refer to the operating manual for the autosampler.

Injection port

Injector

Select the injector.

Mode

Specify how the sample must be conditioned. Select one of the following incubation modes:

Incubation mode

Specify how the sample will be conditioned. Select one of the following incubation modes:

Constant — The sample is sequentially conditioned at a programmed temperature with a constant conditioning time.

Progressive — The sample is conditioned at a programmed temperature with a conditioning time that increases for each sample according to a programmed additional time. This mode is useful for developing and refining headspace methods.

Multiple Extraction — Multiple extractions of headspace from the same vial are performed.

Constant DoublePro — Two samples are simultaneously conditioned at a programmed temperature with a constant conditioning time and injected into two separated injection ports. See below under DoublePro 2nd Injector.

Note:

The Constant DoublePro mode is only available if a double injection port is configured.

Syringe type

Specify the syringe parameters.

Syringe volume (mL)

Specify the syringe volume in milliliters.

Needle length (mm)

Specify the length of the syringe needle.

Analysis time

Analysis time (min)

Specify the full runtime of a single sample. It is used for calculation of multiple sample incubation when the time is longer than the analysis runtime. The autosampler automatically updates sample by sample with the last runtime.

Sample

Set the parameters for sample drawing.

Sample draw (mL)

Select the volume of vapor to be drawn and injected. The maximum injectable value is 10% less than the syringe capacity.

Enrichment counts (#)

(Only available if the selected Incubation mode is Constant or Progressive.) Select the number of samplings to be carried out from the same sample vial. When Enrichment Counts is greater than 1, the specified number of headspace samplings will be injected into the specified injector. The start signal to the GC is sent after the last injection.

Enrichment delay (min)

(Only available if the selected Incubation mode is Constant or Progressive.) Select the delay time in minutes between one enrichment and the next.

Incubation

Specify the conditioning and shaking parameters. Vial shaking at a specified temperature by means of an agitator (incubation oven) is used to decrease the time necessary for sample equilibrium.

Agitator temperature (°C)

Specify the temperature for the agitator (incubation oven).

Incubation time (min)

Specify the incubation time for all samples to be analyzed with the method in use.

Progressive incubation time (min)

(Only available if the selected Incubation mode is Progressive.) Specify the time in minutes that is progressively added to the incubation time of all samples analyzed with the headspace method.

Multiple extraction venting time (s)

(Only available if the selected Incubation mode is Multiple extraction.) Specify the venting/flushing time in seconds of the headspace gas contained in the vial, to be performed after each injection.

Agitator on (s)

Turns the agitator on for the specified time.

Agitator off (s)

Turns the agitator off for the specified time.

Sampling depth in vial

In order to prevent undesired substances from being drawn into the needle, determine how deep the needle descends into the sample vial. As a result, the needle will only move down into the vial as far as necessary to draw out some of the desired sample.

Sampling depth mode

Specify the penetration depth of the syringe needle into the vial:

Standard – Sets the penetration depth of the needle into the vial, in millimeters, to a pre-set depth of 25 mm.

Custom – For manual control of the penetration depth of the needle into the vial. The Sampling Vial Depth (mm) parameter is enabled.

Sampling Vial Depth (mm)

(Only available if the selected Sampling depth mode is Custom.) Specify the penetration depth of the needle into the vial in millimeters.

Note:

The value reflects the total length including the length of the fibre.

DoublePro 2nd injector

The DoublePro 2nd injector options are only available if the selected Incubation mode is Constant DoublePro.

In this mode, the autosampler injects a different sample into each injector respecting the relevant incubation times.

Injector

Select the second injector defined in the Sampler Set-up dialog window.

Delay Inj1 to Inj2 (s)

Specify the time in seconds before injecting the sample into the second injection port. To have the correct repeatability of the retention time, set the time at a value slightly longer than the time necessary for the autosampler to prepare the sample to inject.

Sample delta

Specify the interval between two batches of vials containing different samples.
