Diagnostics (UltiMate 3000 Series)
Disconnecting the Pump Block from Flow (HPG-3x00RS/SD)

If you want to run the general or detailed leak test for a HPG-3x00RS or HPG-3x00SD pump, disconnect the unused pump block from the flow before starting the test.

Except for a PEEK blind nut, which is included in the pump accessories kit, the Diagnostics kit for UltiMate 3000 RS/SD Pumps (Dionex part no. 6040.3099) includes everything that is needed to disconnect a pump block.

The image below illustrates this procedure for the HPG-3200RS pumps:

To disconnect the pump block

To test the right pump block (i.e., channels B and D for a HPG-3400RS/SD or channel B for a HPG-3200RS/SD), remove the capillary (5) that connects the left pump head (1) with the purge unit (4):

  1. Disconnect the capillary at the outlet of the left pump head (5a) and close the outlet with a blind nut (PEEK).

  2. Disconnect the capillary at the inlet of the purge unit (5b) and close the inlet with a blind nut.

  3. Close the mixer outlet (2a) with a blind nut.

  4. After completion of the test, reconnect the capillary and remove the blind nut from the mixer outlet.

Tip:

Leave the blind nut in the mixer outlet, if you proceed with testing the second pump block.

To test the left pump block (i.e., channels A and C for a HPG-3400RS/SD or channel A for a HPG-3200RS/SD), remove the capillary (6) that connects the right pump head (3) with the purge unit (4):

  1. Disconnect the capillary at the outlet of the right pump head (6a) and close the outlet with a blind nut (PEEK).

  2. Disconnect the capillary at the inlet of the purge unit (6b) and close the inlet with a blind nut.

  3. Close the mixer outlet (2a) with a blind nut.

  4. After completion of the test, reconnect the capillary and remove the blind nut from the mixer outlet.
