Installing the DX-LAN Card
Installing the DX-LAN Card in the Computer

If you require a 10BASE-T DX-LAN  card (FA311 card, P/N 060219) and did not obtain one pre-installed in a computer purchased from Dionex, follow the steps below to install the card.

 Caution:

To prevent electrostatic discharge from damaging the DX-LAN card's electronic components, use an electrostatic grounding strap during the installation. If one is not available, do the following: before removing the card from its anti-static bag, touch the computer's metal frame to discharge any static electricity from your body.

  1. Turn off the computer and disconnect its power cord.

  2. Remove the computer cover.

  3. Locate an empty PCI expansion slot into which the DX-LAN card will fit. If several slots are empty, leave as much space as possible around each installed card to ensure adequate air circulation.

  4. A metal filler bracket covers the rear panel opening for the selected expansion slot. Raise the bracket cover. (If the bracket is held in place with a screw, remove the screw and set it aside.)

  5. Carefully slide the DX-LAN card into the slot, aligning the card's metal mounting bracket with the expansion slot opening on the rear panel.

  6. Align the card's bottom edge connectors with the connectors on the motherboard. Firmly push the card into the motherboard connectors until the card is fully seated

  7. Push the card's bracket cover back into place (and reinstall the screw removed in Step 4, if applicable).

  8. Replace the computer cover, as well as any cables you removed.
