Determine the signal parameters of the GC:

Option

Description

TCP Port

Enter a valid server port number to enable transmission of the measured data from the GC to Chromeleon. The allowed TCP port range is 1024–65535.

Notes:

Make sure that the selected port number does not conflict with other applications or ports used by other devices, for example another GC 7890, which are connected to the same PC.

If you are using a firewall, make sure that the selected port is allowed to traverse the firewall. For more information, refer to  Chromeleon and Windows Firewall (from WinXP SP2 on).

In either case, check with your network administrator if necessary.

Unit

Enter the signal unit; for example, pA, mV or mAU.

Factor

The Factor is the conversion factor between the displayed signal unit e.g., mV, and the signal unit of the connected detector.

For example, if the signal unit of the detector output is mV and if the signal shall be represented in µV instead of in mV, enter µV as the unit and 1000 as the factor.

You can also use the factor to reverse the signal by selecting a factor of -1.0.

Offset

Each channel can receive a signal offset. The value is subtracted from the actual signal in the displayed signal unit.

It can be used to balance pressure or temperature readings. For example, if a thermometer supplies a voltage of 2V at 1°C, this can be compensated by entering an offset value of 1.
